Joe (Gomamon), Mimi (Palmon), and all the other digimon traveling with them watch as a whole city seems to shift. That can only mean another Dark Master was defeated. Frigimon warns them not to celebrate early for Piedmon is still out there, and he is going to create one tough battle. Joe suggests they continue to round up more friends.

In Piedmon's lair, the evil digimon gloats, "That's right! Round up as many as you want. It's nice having friends around to share your last moments!"

The gang continues to travel uphill when Mimi falls to her knees complaining of hunger. At that point everyone wanders off searching for food. (Cute scene here when Gomamon tries to get Joe to admit that Mimi is charming.) Mimi is delighted when soon she is presented with quite a feast. Everyone enjoys a good meal and relax. Joe begins to recall what his brother had told him....that he should follow his own path. He takes over watch from Ogremon, but the large digimon has trouble believing that the boy can handle it. That's when Joe realizes that he's been a doormat and vows to change.

In a different area of the Digital World, Kari and T.K. pray for their fallen digimon friend. They promise that he will be reborn in Primary Village. Close by, Tai, Sora, and Izzy see in a distance what they believe to be Piedmon's hangout. Piedmon, who has been watching the children's every move on his monitors, is not very happy that he has been found. Lady Devimon appears and asks if she can destroy the digidestined for him. Piedmon sends her off asking her to be quick and painful.

The next scene shows Joe and Mimi, who have come upon the charcoal remains of Primary Village. Suddenly, Joe hears the sound of a harmonica. They dash off hoping to find Matt.

Returning to Tai and the others, Izzy, using his computer and Andromon, has found that their location is on the top of Spiral Mountain. This means that the Dark Masters can't be far off. Suddenly, Andromon warns of an intruder, and Lady Devimon appears before them. Koromon digivolves to Agumon and gives her a pepper breath wallop, but she easily strikes him down.

Patamon digivolves to Angemon.
Biyomon digivolves to Birdramon.

LadyDevimon is putting up a good fight and Agumon wants to once again join the fray, but Tai holds him back saying that they will use Wargreymon as their trump card when necessary. He then turns to Izzy and asks him to check out their opponent on his digimon analyzer. It says: Lady Devimon programmed to be the ultimate fully digivolved fighting soldier. She serves as gatekeeper and bodyguard for the last dark master. Knowing that the battles will only get more difficult, Tai sends Sora, Birdramon, T.K. and Angemon to find the others and bring them back. Angewomon and Kabuterimon continue to fight LadyDevimon.

Meanwhile, Joe and Mimi have found that it was Elecmon who was playing the harmonica. The small digimon had found it lying by the beach. He told them that he recalls seeing someone taking a swan boat across the lake. They tell Elecmon that they are fighting the dark Masters and ask him to join. When he hears that T.K. and Patamon are bravely fighting, he agrees to join them. After that, Joe turns to Mimi and informs her that he must go out on his own to find Matt. She wants to go with him, but he tells her no....this is something he must do alone so he may discover his purpose in the Digital World.

The next scene returns to the battle with LadyDevimon. What a catfight between Angewomon and LadyDevimon! (Meow!!) When things get rough for Angewomon, Kabuterimon digivolves to Megakabuterimon. With his tough exterior he blocks a fatal "black wing" attack meant for Angewomon. That gives Kari's beautiful digimon the ability to send the final attack and destroy LadyDevimon once and for all. Everyone cheers....but not for long. Piedmon approaches slowly. Tai tells Agumon to suit up!

Agumon digivolves to Wargreymon!

Tai watches as the toughest opponent yet approaches. He knows they need as much time as possible so every digidestined can regroup and battle as one!
